Our Curricula
Pre-K and Kindergarten:
Pre-K and Kindergarten:
At LIS Pre K and Kindergarten is considered to be the head start programme where teachers aim to develop the school readiness in the students. We follow a holistic approach to teaching and learning to foster cognitive and social-emotional skills in the young learners. The aim of developing these skills is to lay the groundwork for it to continue throughout the child’s education. Students are facilitated to explore the world around them through material items and relationships.

Elementary (Grade 1 to 5):
Common-Core standards form the basis for a balanced approach. Based on the standards, students are facilitated to acquire all the necessary skills and knowledge. These elementary years are designed to ease the transition of students from elementary to middle years. We aim to develop the attributes like collaboration, cooperation, critical thinking, and inquiry at this stage through the curriculum.

Middle School (Grade 6 to 8):
This phase includes the application of the “Backward-Designing Concept”. We try to give the best combination of acquiring skills through common core and apply the acquired skills through Project-Based-Learning. This is an integrated approach where students learn through projects and become life-long learners. Through “Vertical Planning”, students at this stage acquire self-efficacy and become very well aware of what they are expected to achieve in high school.

High School (Grade 9-12):
We strive to provide our students with as challenging courses as possible. This approach makes our students reflective learners and makes them ready for the real world. Our school also requires the students to take the GED (General Education Development) and SAT tests during their high school years.

ICT-Integration:
Integration of Information and Communication Technology is the most important aspect that is endorsed by the curriculum that we follow. We aim to make our students become digitally literate citizens and learn through the best combination of hands-on-activities, projects, and technology-oriented lessons.
Assessment Policy:
At LIS, we believe that examinations are not the only way of measuring a child’s progress. For this reason, there is less emphasis on conventional testing throughout the Early years and Elementary levels till grade 4. However, formative assessments are the way to gauge the students’ performance. This system also helps us to reveal each student’s range of skills. From grade 5 to grade 12, we follow a proper combination of high-quality Formative and Summative assessments. This makes our students ready for the external standardized tests.
